We succeed where others failed.
Letter from the CEO
For years Daniel was looking for a way to improve global equity through business.
"When I was younger, I considered it ethically important to try and improve the society thru democratic activities like free speech and peaceful protesting. Somewhat frustrated by low progress on important issues, and seeing that we never seemed to gain any momentum by protesting, I left activism and began lobbying directly to the Massachusetts State Legislature for health and economic policies which would improve my society, our health and the opportunities for our children.
At this time I met and worked with many wonderful people including the Administration of the late Senator Ted Kennedy. However this type of activity seemed also to be limited, especially since there were professional lobbying firms fighting against us on our issues like safety from unregulated toxic chemicals and deliberate mislabelling of food products. Those corporate lobbyists had near endless resources to fight their battles, take side-swipes at us, and influence our legislators.
I've always been a self-learner (autodidact), and early on I emphasized philosophy, economics, sociology and politics in my education. Since my college was mismanaged and overstuffed with international students (who paid more tuition than local residents), it took some years after I left the school to reach a depth of study in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and medical pathology. There came a time in 2015 when I faced a particularly difficult personal situation which pushed me down and shook me away from my meditation and learning programs. It was during this time that I had the important realization that many of the problems of our world are closely tied to attempts at money-making, and that many people engage in negative activities because they cannot think of better ways of making money. In fact, some people hated me for my speech and lobbying efforts which threatened to cut their profits without the promise of replacement.

When I began my studies of business at age 25, I had little besides a long list of criticisms and complaints about corporations. It is not that I wanted wealthy and successful people to suffer, but it seemed like many of them were doing business in the wrong way. As I chewed on this puzzle, I practiced compassion. I came to understand that even the wealthiest people of this world often suffer from their own ways of making money.
Desire to grow wealth is a valuable passion which naturally tends to benefit all, but our World Civilization is limited, and it experiences a general immaturity in the processes of business. I explored these issues with my colleagues on the level of philosophy and socioeconomics and found with surprise that most had never considered my perspective.
It was from this surprise that my realization further grew into a profound self-awareness of my purpose in this life: I was here to change the world by doing a better sort of business, one which refused to victimize weak people or engage in corruption. Since then I've known that my mission is to redefine business in a way where ethics and industry, compassion and innovation can flow together.
The concept for EDC was formed in 2019 when I went on a journey to explore Southeast Asia including Singapore, Bangladesh, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, and East Africa most especially Uganda.
We might have to wait hundreds of years for humanity to learn how to do the right thing on a global scale, but maybe there's something we can do today.
The three most important services in the world for private business to improve upon are infrastructure, education, and agriculture. We need solid, low-maintenance infrastructure which multiplies economic surplus and growth around the world; we need cheap and free education systems of the highest caliber, built with AI teachers on an incorruptible basis; and we need agriculture which sustains the health of the earth and maximized the health of the people who consume it.
It is said that all the wealth of the universe is locked inside the brains of men.
At the time of birth, a child born without the resources to succeed may have the same potential locked inside his brain as a child born with those resources. Calculating the number of people born without the resources to succeed, we must realize that a majority of the greatest minds of our world must be children who face perilous journeys towards the actualization of their potential, made nearly impossible by a lack of basic resources.
Whether through the development of permanent infrastructure, the pioneering of new education paradigms, or the commercialization of sustainable agriculture systems, we have an oppurtunity to liberate those brains from the squalor of their missed opportunities and to shower the Earth in the ensuing riches.
